The Lungarni of Pisa are the streets that run along the banks of the Arno river, which cuts the heart of the city in two. Scenic Character: They are famous for their elegance and charming atmosphere, thanks to the presence of historic noble palaces overlooking the water, often with facades from different eras, from medieval to baroque. Key Monuments: On the Arno riverside there are important buildings such as the tiny and precious Church of Santa Maria della Spina (a Gothic jewel) and Palazzo Blu (an exhibition center). Special Events: They form the main setting of the spectacular Luminara di San Ranieri (16 June), when the facades of the palaces are illuminated DA thousands of lamps, creating a magical reflection on the Arno. They are the ideal place for a walk and an iconic image of the city.

Piazza dei Cavalieri is the second most important square in Pisa, historically the center of political power and later the headquarters of the Order of the Knights of St. Stephen. Renaissance: The square was completely redesigned in the sixteenth century by the famous architect Giorgio Vasari, giving it the elegant and uniform appearance it has today. Main Buildings: It is dominated by the Palazzo della Carovana, whose facade is decorated with elaborate graffiti and is now home to the prestigious Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. To the side is the Clock Palace, which incorporates the ancient Hunger Tower. It is a magnificent example of Renaissance architecture and a hub of Pisan academic life.
