Wat Maheyong, a Buddhist monastery situated just outside the eastern end of the ancient city of Ayutthaya, stands in a state of ruins despite undergoing multiple restoration efforts throughout its history. Initially built in the 15th century, it likely functioned as a meditation center, and the discernible red brick walls can still be seen from a distance.
