We will drive nearly 100 kilometers along the Transfăgărășan, Romania's most famous scenic road and one of the world's greatest mountain drives. Featured by BBC on Top Gear in 2009 as one of the world's best driving roads, it is renowned for its dramatic hairpin turns, breathtaking alpine scenery, waterfalls, glacial lakes, and the chance to spot wild brown bears. Built between 1970 and 1974 during the regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu as a strategic military route, the road crosses the Făgăraș Mountains and reaches 2,042 meters near Bâlea Lake. Along the way, we'll make several scenic stops for photos. IMPORTANT: The upper section of the Transfăgărășan near Bâlea Lake is open only from June to October. During the rest of the year, it remains closed due to weather conditions.
