You will return into medieval times with this private day trip to Rouen by train. Duration: About 8 hours • Scenic train from Paris to Rouen in Normandy. • In Rouen, you'll explore the historic and quaint downtown with its medieval architecture. • You'll admire the tallest gothic cathedral of France, Notre-Dame of Rouen, that was recurrently painted by impressionist Claude Monet. • You'll see the place where Joan of Arc was executed, burnt at the stake. • You'll admire and learn about the richly, beautifully crafted city clock tower of Rouen, one of the oldests of France. • You'll discover many other true hidden gems on your tour route such as a former medieval cemetery (very busy during the black plague). • Spectacular views along the way • Possibility to eat at one of several lunch accommodations in town (not included) • Your tour will cheerfully end upon our return to Paris

As the tallest cathedral of France, Notre-Dame (Our Lady) of Rouen has been painted several times by Impressionist painter Claude Monet who loved recreate the sunlight variations on it throughout the day. Inside the church lies many treasures, among which the tomb effigy of the duke of Normandy and king of England Richard Lion Heart, and other powerful medieval figures of Normandy and France.

Iconic belfry with its daintily crafted clock. While we'll admire it from the lively pedestrian street that goes under the belfry, it will be possible for an additional fee to visit inside and climb up the stairs for a spectacular view of Rouen!
