What you'll do
- 1
Thanks to its elevated position, Fiesole has always been one of the most popular places for Florentines and tourists to enjoy the view over Florence and the Arno valley, but also to look out over the wonderful Tuscan countryside that surrounds the village. Fiesole is only 4 miles away from the center of Florence but outside the city, making it the best starting point to really explore the Tuscan countryside without going too far from the town but away from crowded places.
⏱ 30 min - 2
The hilltop town of Fiesole has panoramic views of Florence away from the crowds. The Renaissance City and all her vibrant terracotta rooftops and towers are as visible atop Fiesole, as they are if you were standing at Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence itself, only with far fewer people admiring her gorgeous view.
⏱ 30 min - 3
Scenic views of Tuscan countryside as well as just being just a 20 minute bus ride from Florence's center.
⏱ 1 hour - 4
Depending on the season, we will reach a monastery still inhabited by monks at an altitude of over 800m (2600ft). We will cross the path of the Via degli dei, the ancient Via Flaminia Minor, the Etruscan road that crossed the Apennines mountains at least 200 years BC, today Popular Historical & Scenic Hiking Trail.
⏱ 30 min - 5
Depending on the season, we will reach Settignano and the Michelangelo's childhood home, where the young Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni grew up and honed his skills.
