The Singapore Cable Car covers 1,640 meters between Mount Faber and Sentosa Island and is the only way to get to Sentosa by air. At 79 meters above sea level, the views over Keppel Harbour, the city skyline, and the surrounding islands are the best you will get from a moving object in Singapore. A round-trip SkyPass costs SGD 35 for adults and SGD 25 for children (4-12), with children under 4 riding free. This is not the cheapest way to reach Sentosa - the monorail is SGD 4 - but it is the most scenic by a significant margin, and the 2025-launched SkyOrb chrome cabin has made it genuinely exciting again.

How to Get to the Cable Car Stations
There are two boarding stations. Most visitors start from HarbourFront Tower 2 in mainland Singapore (connected to HarbourFront MRT on the NEL/CCL lines). The cable car also stops at Mount Faber Peak, which requires a short taxi or the free shuttle from HarbourFront.
| Starting Point | How to Get There | Fare to Station | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| HarbourFront Tower 2 | HarbourFront MRT (NEL/CCL exit B) | MRT fare only | Easiest, most common start |
| Mount Faber Peak | Taxi/Grab from HarbourFront (~SGD 8-10) | SGD 8-10 taxi | Better views, less crowded |
| Sentosa (return) | Inside Resorts World Sentosa | Included in SkyPass | Round-trip |
| Cable Car Sky Network | Both stations | SGD 35 adult round-trip | Full experience |
The Mount Faber station is quieter than HarbourFront and the upward view from there toward Sentosa is better. The downside: you need a taxi or the Mount Faber Leisure free shuttle to get there (runs from HarbourFront). Most visitors start at HarbourFront for convenience.
When Is the Best Time to Ride the Cable Car?
Go at 5:30-6:30pm on a clear day to catch the transition from afternoon light to sunset over Keppel Harbour. The Pokémon themed cabins (running November 2025 to April 2026) light up with UV torch revelations from 7:45pm. Weekday evenings have shorter queues. On weekends from 12-4pm, queue times at HarbourFront can hit 45-60 minutes. The early morning is the least crowded but loses the sunset.
What to Experience on the Cable Car
Standard Gondola Ride
The standard gondola holds 8 people and takes 12-15 minutes each direction. Panoramic windows on all sides. On clear days you can see the Strait of Singapore, Batam (Indonesia), and the container port. The best photos come from the Mount Faber to Sentosa direction, shooting toward the city skyline.
SkyOrb Cabin (New for 2025)
The SkyOrb is the world's first chrome-finished spherical cable car cabin - a reflective globe that creates a distorted wide-angle view of the surroundings. Upgrade costs SGD 15-20 on top of the SkyPass and includes a glass floor section. Worth doing once for the novelty. Not suitable for those with height sensitivity - the glass floor is more intense than the standard gondola experience.
Cable Car Dining Experience
Private cabin dining is available with a 4-course set menu. Packages run SGD 220-280 per couple and include a private gondola, a 4-course Peranakan or Nordic-Asian menu, and unlimited loops while you eat. Popular for proposals and anniversaries. Book weeks in advance via Mount Faber Leisure directly.
Wings of Time (Separate Show, Often Bundled)
Wings of Time is a waterfront laser and water-jet show at Sentosa that runs nightly at 7:40pm and 8:40pm. Tickets cost SGD 23 (standard) to SGD 28 (premium). Klook often bundles Cable Car + Wings of Time for SGD 48-55 total - saving SGD 5-10 versus buying separately. A good combination evening if you want to stay on Sentosa for dinner first.
Where to Stay Near the Cable Car
- HarbourFront / Vivocity area: Walking distance to the HarbourFront station. Mid-range hotels SGD 150-280/night.
- Sentosa Island resorts: On-destination after arriving by cable car. Rates SGD 280-600+/night at RWS hotels.
- Chinatown: 2 MRT stops from HarbourFront. Budget to mid-range SGD 80-200/night. Good food nearby.
- Tanjong Pagar: Walking distance to HarbourFront MRT. Business hotels SGD 150-300/night.

Practical Tips
Weather: Cable car operations pause during lightning alerts, which are common in afternoon thunderstorm season. If your timing is flexible, book the evening slot - the probability of a weather interruption is lower after 6pm than at 3pm.
Queues: The HarbourFront station has the longest queues. If you can get to Mount Faber (10 min by Grab from HarbourFront, SGD 8-10), the queue is shorter and the ride in that direction gives the better city view.
Luggage: Not practical for large bags. The gondola accommodates standard daypack sizes without issue.
My Honest Take on the Singapore Cable Car
The Cable Car is not the most thrilling ride in Singapore but it is one of the most photogenic. The 15 minutes of unobstructed harbour views justify the SGD 35 ticket, especially at sunset. What makes it genuinely worthwhile is the combination with Wings of Time or a Sentosa dinner - arriving by air and spending the evening on the island before taking the cable car back is one of the best structured evenings you can have in Singapore. Going just for the ride and coming straight back is fine but slightly underwhelming for the price.
